Culture Shock when you come to Indonesia (part 1)

I am one of the Indonesians. I joined here just recently..By the way...have you ever come to visit Indonesia

There are many interesting facts when you come to Indonesia. One of them is that you will experience culture shock you were revealed when culture shock occurred for foreign tourists who came to Indonesia.

Foreign tourists visiting Indonesia may experience culture shock due to several factors:

  1. Language Barrier: Indonesian is the official language, and while many people in tourist areas speak English, communication can still be challenging in more remote areas.
  2. Cultural Norms: Indonesian culture is diverse and deeply rooted in traditions, including customs, social etiquette, and religious practices. For example, the concept of "saving face" is crucial, and being respectful and polite is highly valued.
  3. Religious Practices: Indonesia is predominantly Muslim, and tourists may encounter different customs and practices, such as modest dress codes, prayer times, and dietary restrictions during Ramadan.
  4. Traffic and Transportation: Traffic congestion and chaotic driving conditions in cities like Jakarta can be overwhelming for visitors accustomed to more orderly traffic systems.
  5. Climate and Environment: Indonesia's tropical climate, with high temperatures and humidity, can be challenging for some tourists, especially those coming from cooler climates. Additionally, the country's biodiversity and natural beauty may be both fascinating and overwhelming for some visitors.
  6. Food and Cuisine: Indonesian cuisine is diverse and flavorful, but foreign tourists may need time to adjust to new flavors and ingredients. Additionally, food hygiene standards may vary, leading to potential stomach discomfort for some travelers.
  7. Bargaining and Haggling: In traditional markets and small shops, bargaining is common practice. Some tourists may find this aspect of shopping unfamiliar or uncomfortable.
